Management Team
Jose Conrado Poblete, PhD
Dr. Poblete is the Founder and President of Word Consulting Group, Ltd (Hongkong).
Prior to establishing WCG, he spent eight years with Phase Five Communications,
Inc., a division of Grey Healthcare Group in New York, New York, USA, where he was
Vice-President/Group Scientific Supervisor prior to his leaving for Asia to realize
his dream of creating a new kind of medical communications company. He has extensive
experience in strategic planning and tactical execution of medical education programs.
As a manager, he led several business segments, trained biomedical writer teams,
and implemented various leadership team initiatives for increased efficiency and
profitability. As a strategic and tactical planner, Dr. Poblete developed scientific
communication plans to support both US and Global product life cycle management
programs, and collaborated with Brand-Medical-Legal-Regulatory review committees
to ensure tactical plan compliance with ACCME, PhRMA and/or OIG guidelines.
Dr. Poblete's experience also includes being a Visiting Scientist for Max Planck
Institute for Experimental Medicine in Germany and in the Department of Psychology
of the Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. He also served as an Adjunct
Faculty member at New York University for several years, and he has authored numerous
scientific publications.
Dr. Poblete received his Doctor of Philosophy degree (with distinction) in Biology
from New York University where he specialized in Neuroscience. His thesis describes
the role of energy metabolism on the 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA/Ecstasy)-induced
serotonin nerve degeneration. He has published several articles on this topic, as
well as on the effects of other drugs of abuse in serotonin signaling mechanisms.
He also earned a Master of Science degree in Biology specializing in Neurobiology
and Physiology at NYU. He is a graduate of Lehigh University, College of Engineering
and Applied Science in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA, with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Biochemistry.
